The Friends together with members from the Sedgemoor Model Boat Club were busy on 7th March 2017 litter picking as part of the Great British Spring Clean. There were 14 volunteers altogether who collected 23 bags of rubbish plus a tyre, golf club and piece of carpet!

All were removed from the park by Sedgemoor District Council Clean Surrounding Services to be separated before going to the local recycling centre.

Circular Seating

A new circular seat was installed by carpentry students from Bridgwater College with funding from Sedgemoor District Council and The Friends of Apex Park. The new seating area which is a wooden wraparound bench has been fixed to a mature Black Poplar tree and accommodates 16 people within the woodland park area.

The project was pushed through by the efforts of a Friends member Valerie-Jane.

She said “Our splendid new bench is placed at a half-way point from the river Brue back to the Apex car park. A welcome rest for those who may need to take the weight off their feet or watch the clouds roll by”
